Instructional Designer Intern

Academic and Trade Qualifications:
  • Pursing a master’s degree in instructional technology, adult education or related field preferred.
  • Passionate about instructional design, web-based learning, self-paced learning, and just-in-time learning.
1-2 years of instructional design and elearning development preferred but not required.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) such as Job Training & Safety, Engineering & Operations to create learning content and course deliverables.
  • Assists with converting existing instructor-led material or presentations to online or blended delivery format.
  • Assists in researching and organizing information to write instructional materials such as reference guides, audio/video scripts, storyboards, navigational text, assessment, etc that transform complex information into professionally written, clear, and interactive online instruction.
  • Coordinates and supports the planning and deployment of Enterprise Learning Platform.
  • Manage workload effectively including planning, organizing, prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Assists with needs assessment and other activities as directed.
Job Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, learning and development, and organizational development, either through course work or professional experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of eLearning Authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management System, Game-based learning design preferred.
Abilities and Skills:
  • Ability to work independently and track milestones and meet project quality expectations
  • Ability to prepare information for presentation and communication to broad audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and support the implementation of ideas based on that research
  • Fast learner, eager collaborator; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
