You will work with a team of Government Relations experts to communicate electric cooperative issues with elected officials, regulatory departments, and NC electric cooperatives. This association provides trade services to 26 member electric cooperatives, including communications support, training, education and legislative services.

Publications Intern
Carolina Country magazine, reaching more than 2 million readers and published on behalf of North Carolina’s electric cooperatives, is seeking a qualified college junior or senior for a paid internship (20 hours per week from May/June 2022 through August 2022) to contribute to the success of our award-winning monthly publication. The position will support the Publications Department of the Raleigh-based North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives across all functions of magazine and web production. This includes working with the Editor on content — researching, writing and editing — as well as on website production and social media channels. Will support business-related functions as well, including attending staff meetings and assisting with monthly mailings.

Marketing & Research Coordinator

Reliability Compliance Intern
The Reliability Compliance Intern joins the NCEMC ERO Compliance Team responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory reliability requirements. As an owner, operator, and user of the North American Bulk Electric System, NCEMC is subject to mandatory and enforceable reliability requirements covering cybersecurity, physical security, maintenance and testing, emergency operations and planning, facility ratings, vegetation management, and protection system coordination. The Intern will gain exposure to the inner workings of regulatory compliance as they collaborate with Subject Matter Experts from various facets of energy generation and distribution. In this role, they will collaborate on cross-team efforts toward maintaining compliance through data collection, scenario analysis, and exposure to real-world analytics.

Associate General Counsel
The Associate General Counsel is a member of the NCEMC Legal Services Division, reporting to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel. This position involves legal counsel extended to all of the corporate entities that comprise the “Statewide” organizations supporting NC’s Electric Cooperatives. At the time of this posting, the primary such entities are North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation (“NCEMC”), the North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives (“NCAEC”), and Tarheel Electric Membership Association (“TEMA”). The Associate General Counsel may recommend courses of action to the General Counsel; and assist in the representation of NCEMC before regulatory bodies, courts, private entities, and legislative committees and commissions. It is envisioned that among the primary responsibilities of the position will be counsel provided to staff business representatives involved in transactional activity involving renewable, edge-of-grid, microgrid, and related distributed energy resources, including leading negotiations with such counterparties.
